The Apple ][gs and the SainSmart GBS-8220 RGB/CGA/EGA/YUV to VGA Arcade HD Video Converter Board is now its Own Thread...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I bought this Teknika MA-RGB7 Card on e-Bay, but I don't have any RGB monitors anymore, so I also bought one of these SainSmart GBS-8220 RGB/CGA/EGA/YUV to VGA Arcade HD Video Converter Boards.
The JAMMA GBS-8220, the SainSmart and the Delta all seem to be variations on the same basic Design..
The SainSmart card I got came with NO MANUAL, a Pig-Tail Harness for Connector P11 ( R, G, B, S, HS, VS, GND ) and Connector P9 ( +5-12VDC, GND ). The Pig-Tail Harness for P11 has no Horizontal Sync ( HS ) wire, just the Vertical Sync ( VS ) and a wire for the Shield ( S )...
Connector P3 ( R, G, B, S, GND, H+V Sync ) is the one I have got to work with the Teknika MA-RGB7 and the Apple ][gs RGB ports. There is a PDF Manual for the Delta, ( Local Copy ), that was adequate for setting up both my Apple ]['s, but using slightly different 15-pin Pin-Outs,
The Teknika MA-RGB7 and the SainSmart seem to work, but there are some issues..
The MA-RGB7 documentation seems to have no Pin Out information, but the AppleColor RGB Card and the Digital Prism Card from Applied Engineering seem to be Identical to each other, so I would guess that the MA-RGB7 would be wired very similarly...
Using Marco Orlandi, Using Apple II AppleColor RGB Card with an Apple Analog Monitor, ( Local Copy ), I located Pin-Outs for the AppleColor RGB Card and the Apple ][gs RGB Port on page 3.
Apple ][e
The SainSmart has a very Nice and Sharp Display, but experences a Color Shift in the Hi-Res mode which might be related to the Ground Signal. I was concerned to Tie them ALL Together because of Interference Issues, so I am using just the Green Ground.
The Double Hi-Res mode has basically, no color. I am using an AE RAMWORKS II Card I got, so It might be a RAMWORKS Issue, or a Teknika Issue or an Apple ][e Issue. Both the RAMWORKS and the Teknika have jumpers for the Original Rev-A ][e Motherboards. Maybe one is not working correctly.. I guess I should Mix-and-Match my Hardware to find out..
My Monitors are:
An NEC AccuSync LCD52VM ( 15" ) connected to a Composite/S-Video to VGA Converter and
a Dell E173PFc ( 17" ) connected to the SainSmart GBS-8220.
